MongoLoader 2.9 Released: YAML and Fixed-Width Import/Export, UTF-16 Fix

September 21, 2026 — Withdata Software announces MongoLoader 2.9, a cross-platform desktop tool for importing files into MongoDB and exporting MongoDB collections back to files. This release adds YAML and fixed-width text as source and target formats, and fixes reading UTF-16 encoded files.

What’s New in MongoLoader 2.9

1. Import and Export YAML

YAML is now supported in both directions. You can import YAML files into a MongoDB collection with the usual automatic field mapping and insert/upsert options, and you can export a collection or query result to a YAML file. YAML is a natural fit for configuration-driven pipelines and for data that is easier to read and review than JSON.

2. Import and Export Fixed-Width Text

Fixed-width text — where each column is defined by a character position instead of a delimiter — is still the export format of choice in banking, telecom, government and legacy/mainframe systems. MongoLoader 2.9 reads fixed-width files on import and can write fixed-width files on export, so you no longer have to convert them to a delimited format first.

3. Fixed Reading UTF-16 Encoded Files

Reading UTF-16 encoded files has been fixed. UTF-16 text is common in Windows environments and in files exported by some tools; it is now detected and decoded correctly, so the imported data matches the original.
