September 14, 2026 — Withdata Software announces DBToFile 3.0, a cross-platform desktop tool for exporting databases to files. This release adds exporting to fixed-width text and YAML, and brings a new “Options / Output Settings” page.
What’s New in DBToFile 3.0
1. Export to Fixed-Width Text
Fixed-width text is still what many legacy systems, mainframes and import tools expect. DBToFile 3.0 can now export a table or a query result to fixed-width text: the column widths are detected from the data automatically, and you can edit any width before exporting, so the output lines up exactly the way the target system needs.
2. Export to YAML
DBToFile can now write YAML as well. You control the encoding, the indent, and block vs. flow style, and flattened columns such as meta.vip can be written as nested mappings. Values that contain line breaks are written as literal block scalars, and reading the file back gives the same columns and values.
3. Options / Output Settings
A new “Options / Output Settings” page collects the export settings in one place. The log filter and the finish notification are kept for the next run, so you do not have to set them again every time.
