This is the biggest update to DBCopier so far: a Preview Plan that shows exactly what will happen before anything is written, safer and faster update / upsert, and a long list of usability improvements for DBAs and developers.

What’s New in DBCopier 3.0

1. Preview Plan — See What Will Happen Before You Copy

Before anything is written, DBCopier 3.0 can show you the plan: the target table of every item, the field map risks, and the number of rows each item will move. Field map risks are also shown in the map dialog — NOT NULL columns, primary / unique key problems, and required columns that are not mapped. You fix problems before a run instead of after one.

2. Safer Writes on Busy Databases

A long copy no longer fails just because a database was busy for a moment. DBCopier now waits and retries on deadlock, lock timeout and lost connection, and a paused conversion is kept alive and reconnects when it resumes. Records that reported a write error are confirmed before they are called failed, and the bad record file is dropped when they all reached the table. A temporary connection problem is no longer reported as an error — only real data errors raise the error dialog.

3. Faster Update and Upsert

Choose an update key per item (“Click To Config”), including multi-column keys.

An index is created on the update key automatically, so update and upsert are much faster.

Update and upsert are written in batches on SQL Server and Oracle.

Tables created by a run now get a primary key.

4. Better Control, Logging and Notifications

New “Options / Settings”; the log filter and the finish notification are kept for the next run.

A log filter by level, keyword, or only the current item, plus Copy Log / Save Log in the output windows.

“Notify me when the conversion is done”, with an optional sound.

5. Field Mapping, Sessions and Other Improvements

Save, load and clear the field mapping of a session; the mapping is fixed automatically after the source columns changed; losing the target tables when a session was loaded is fixed.

Editing the structure of a SQLite table: drop a column and rebuild the table.

Copy Names / Export DDL / Drop Selected, and a search filter in the object tree.

Some minor bug fixes and improvements.

About DBCopier

DBCopier copies data between databases, fast and locally, without coding.

Copy a table, several tables, a query result, or a whole database between databases

Over 20 supported databases: Access, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, SQLite, DB2, Redshift, Azure, DBF and more

Direct copy, update and upsert; similar tables can be merged into one target table

Field mapping with risk checks, preview plan, and saved sessions for repeated jobs

Batch copy, command line, and scheduled tasks for automation

Cross-platform: Windows, Linux, macOS

Fully local offline processing; no data uploaded to cloud servers

Upgrade Today

DBCopier 3.0 is ready for download: https://www.withdata.com/db-copier/download.html.
