What you can do with the Fixed-Width Text Merge tools
Fixed-width text is a plain text format in which every column has a fixed character width and no delimiter is used. For N columns you define N-1 widths, for example 10,25,8, and the last column simply takes the rest of the line.
- Merge any number of files into a single output file.
- Map the columns of every input file to the output columns.
- Merge files that are larger than 4GB, with low memory usage.
- Column widths can be detected from the data (measured width plus 15% slack), or set by hand.
