This video shows how to export data from PostgreSQL table to JSON file in a few clicks with Withdata DBToFile, or with the free Export PostgreSQL to JSON online tool. It covers the postgres table side and the JSON side.
This walks through exporting a PostgreSQL table — or a query result — to a JSON file. It is useful when you need to feed PostgreSQL data into a web service, a JavaScript app, or a document store that expects JSON. The video above shows the full flow; the notes below cover the details that matter for PostgreSQL specifically.
SELECT — so you can export a subset of rows or a join.numeric/decimal and bigint are written as JSON numbers (or as quoted strings if you prefer, to avoid precision loss in JavaScript); boolean becomes true/false; timestamp and timestamptz are written as ISO-8601 strings.NULL is exported as JSON null, while an empty string stays "". Keep them distinct if the consumer relies on the difference.json and jsonb columns are emitted as nested JSON objects rather than escaped strings, so the output stays valid JSON. Arrays can be written as JSON arrays.LIMIT/OFFSET or a moving filter) — most consumers have to load a single JSON document whole.psql or client libraries are required — the tool connects directly.Prefer a step-by-step tool page?
