How to Merge CSV Files in 3 Steps

Merge CSV Files with the Same Header — Keep Only One Header

When every CSV has the same columns (same header row), a plain concatenation is all you need. TextMerger appends the files in the order you set and writes a single output file with just one header row — the repeated header lines of the following files are not copied into the middle of the data.

• Same header / same columns → this page: keep one header row, append the rows in order.
• Header / no-header mix → choose whether the first row of each file is a header and whether it is kept.
• Different headers / different columns → use merge CSV files with different columns in DataFileConverter, which maps the columns before merging.

Merge CSV Files from the Command Line (CLI / Batch)

For recurring or bulk merges you can skip the GUI and run TextMerger from the command line:

1. Configure the merge in the GUI and save the session.
2. Generate a .bat (Windows) or .sh (macOS/Linux) script.
3. Run it in the command prompt or terminal — or schedule it with Windows Task Scheduler / crontab.

Need to Select, Remove or Reshape Columns?

TextMerger concatenates whole files — it does not parse columns. For column-level work — keep or remove specific columns, merge columns, or merge CSVs whose headers differ — use Withdata DataFileConverter:

• Select / extract CSV columns (keep only the columns you list)
• Remove columns from CSV (drop the fields you do not need)
• Merge CSV files with different columns
